WHAT IS BIOMASS ENERGY?

Biomass energy can use most or all kinds of organic material such as wood, sewage, shells or grass clippings. These materials are then burned in a contained portion in a machine called a biomass boiler or biomass burner.9

HOW DOES IT WORK?

These machines aren’t very complicated machines but to keep it simple, their main function is heating one's water, home or desired building(depending on the size). They work by burning wood, burnable pellets or logs. (hypothetically it is possible to burn other burnable objects as long as they are safe.) The exhaust from the boiler is typically sucked through a pipe and out of the house. The fuel (wood, logs etc.) are burned to heat the house or desired area. The flames from the burning materials can heat water pipes to give you hot water!23

While there are many different machines for converting biomass into energy, the majority are mostly industrialized for larger scale use. However some newer homes may have this technology built into them!9

COST

You may be eligible for up to 2,000 dollars in credit for a biomass boiler.2, 23, 1

This can be paid upfront, but many biomass companies offer rent-to-own leases with monthly payments. Other than that, solar panels usually only require bi-yearly maintenance.2
